Allowing hospitals to go further

Our hospitals are always there whenever we need them throughout our lives and those of our families so in turn. We are here to support our hospitals and the dedicated professionals who work in them.

We raise funds to allow our hospitals to go further in so many different ways including the funding of innovative medical equipment, a vibrant arts programme for patients, ward refurbishments, staff support initiatives and cutting-edge research.

We encourage people to:

  • Leave us a legacy in their will.
  • Donate to campaigns that raise money for special projects.
  • Co-ordinate and support general fundraising all year round.
  • Make bids to trusts and foundations asking for funds.
  • Support initiatives that support NHS staff.
  • Volunteer time to support staff and patients.

Outstanding care, clinical excellence, research and innovation

The trust has a long history of providing outstanding care, clinical excellence, research and innovation regionally, nationally and internationally, and is one of the top five providers of specialised health services in the country.

As well as providing a wide range of hospital and community services, the trust supports people with a range of rare and complex medical, surgical and neurological conditions, cancers and genetic orders.

We also operate two dedicated funds that provide a focus for fundraising for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and The Great North Children’s Hospital.

  • Bailey’s diagnosis hit us like a tonne of bricks... we’re very grateful to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. I couldn’t always be there because of restrictions but whenever I had chat with him on the phone I could see his face was beaming because Gareth had been.

  • The counsellor was very good and I could not have dealt with my cancer journey without her. The service is very worthwhile.
