Our mission is to go further for Newcastle Hospitals. Thanks to the generous support of patients, families, staff and wider communities, over the last year we provided £4m to fund projects and initiatives that enhance patient care and support the wellbeing of staff across Newcastle Hospitals.
What we fund
We fund projects around our three goals which are based on what patients and staff have told us is important.
- Access to new technologies and innovation
- Equipment with enhanced functionality
- Additional pieces of equipment that increase capacity and resilience
- Individual attendance at clinical conferences (max value of £1,000)
- Departmental or team development events and training days which go beyond standard provision.
- Subscriptions to notable journals or learning resources.
- Provision or refurbishment of staff rest areas, kitchens or learning facilities – for example the resident doctors rest facilities.
- Team attendance at wellbeing events with a workforce outcome, and within our stated limits per head – for example staff yoga sessions.
- Clinical Fellowships.
- Structured programmes of clinical research.
- Medical equipment with the potential to further research equipment.
- Research delivery staff.
- Programmed activity (PA) time that is supported by the trust and provides dedicated time to focus on research and innovation.
- The costs of disseminating learning from research and or clinical practice and outcomes.

How to submit your proposal
We can consider applications for funding ideas and projects if we have funds that have been donated which match the project being proposed.
Before you submit your proposal please have a chat with our funding and partnerships team. They can let you know if there is any suitable funding and if it would be appropriate to submit a full proposal.
