Campaigns

The charity runs several specific fundraising campaigns each year that raise money for a particular project (The Sir Bobby Robson Institute), a hospital (The Great North Children’s Hospital) or to coincide with other seasonal opportunities to raise additional funds (partnering with the Big Give in early December or by sponsoring places in the Great North Run).

Campaigns like these are a impactful way of focusing and highlighting a particular issue or a good cause.

Newcastle Hospitals Charity - unrestricted donations

Unrestricted funds are extremely important to all charities as they often pay for their annual activities, without which, much of the fundraising would not be possible.

Charities receive restricted funds (legacies or donations that are specifically given for a particular area e.g. heart or renal – restricted only to these areas).

Unrestricted funds (those without caveats on how they should be used) can be channelled towards areas where the need is greatest at the time as well as helping to pay for the charity’s running costs.

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation

Set up as a fund within the charity, the foundation is wholly operated by charity staff with the help of trustees.

Chaired by Mark Robson, Sir Bobby’s son, and supported by other family members, the foundation is supported by an army of passionate fundraisers who run, bike, bake, swim amongst other activities to fund vital cancer research.

The Great North Children’s Hospital

As a charity, we co-ordinate campaign and fundraising activities that raise money for this much-loved Great North Children’s Hospital on the site of the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).

All monies raised for the fund go towards enhancing the lives of patients and their families whilst staying at the hospital.
