Hospital based volunteering

Our dedicated volunteers serve at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, the Freeman Hospital and various community locations – being truly invaluable in providing support to patients and their families during their hospital stays.

From helping to navigate the hospital, delivering essential equipment to their homes, to assisting with mealtime services on the wards. Not only do they enhance our patients’ experience but their support lifts morale, helping staff feel valued and appreciated.

Volunteers are there to lend a helping hand to everyone who walks through our doors; there’s a role for everyone to make a difference!

Fundraising and events volunteering

Our incredible charity volunteers play a vital role in various capacities, from being retail assistants in our hospital shops to raising essential funds for our cause.

They also lend a hand at exciting fundraising events like the Great North Run – with their generosity truly helping us make a meaningful difference for Newcastle Hospitals and beyond!

Many of our volunteers choose to get involved to support their local community, to express their gratitude to hospital staff after receiving exceptional care, to enhance their personal and professional skills or to gain experience in a healthcare setting.
